Sowing Fragrance: Exploring The Fragrant & Medicinal Garden
Looking for an alternative to watching the debate this Thursday? Join me and fellow Ten Speed Press author, Penny Barthel at Berkeley's Mrs. Dalloway's Bookstore at 7 PM!
Over the past 20 years I have had a lot of reactions from folks when I share that I am an edible gardener. Right away some get it - gardens with food based plants - while on other occasions, I have been given a nod of the head or a sly smile with questions about what ‘kind of edibles’ are in my garden? Needless to say, people are curious about cannabis and its place in the garden. Before growing cannabis for personal use became legal here in California, folks simply asked me ‘if it was ok to plant their ‘funny tomato’ next to the heirloom tomatoes’ (yes) or simply where to plant ‘weed’.
When it comes to growing cannabis, I refer people to our local expert, my good friend and fellow Ten Speed Press author, Penny Barthel. In addition to being a published author (The Cannabis Gardener: A Guide to Growing Vibrant Healthy Plants in Every Region) Penny is an educator, gardener, and recipe developer. Penny’s workshops, ‘Wondering About Weed’ offer everything from growing & harvesting information to how to create your own night time cbd sleep aid gummies.
This Thursday night we are teaming up for “Sowing Fragrance: Exploring The Fragrant & Medicinal Garden” and we invite you to join this garden discussion. The free event is being hosted by Mrs. Dalloway’s bookstore in Berkeley at 7 P.M. You can register here.
Lately, Penny and I have been discussing the role of CBD based plants in medicinal gardens grown in support of women’s health specifically during perimenopause and menopause. If this topic interests you, please let me know as we are exploring teaching some classes on the subject in 2025.
I hope to see you this Thursday in Berkeley and that you all have an opportunity to get out & enjoy some time in the garden!
